What can be done *before* mastering to avoid common sonic pitfalls and blind spots and ensure that your music translates the way you want it to, to as many people as possible? Mastering engineer Dave Sperandio opens up the actual mastering sessions for the BOCA, BOHSA, SING, and Voices Only compilations and others and breaks down examples of what works, what doesn't, and why.
